A great video from the archives of The British Pathe.
The video shows the Grenadier Guards at Wellington Barracks, one minute they are doing some drill on the Parade Square, the next minute the bugle sounds to warn everyone of the Air Raid.
As the drills are carried out you can see members of the public looking in through the fence as the Grenadiers carry out the simulations by letting off smoke bombs.
There’s some great shots of the Grenadiers manning the anti-aircraft guns plus others that are going through ‘decontamination’ drills to disperse any chemical agents that may be present.
